A new study reveals, as many as 66 percent of the nation are in seasonal denial – with as many as a 22 percent REFUSING to stop wearing flip flops, insisting it’s OK to wear them all the way through October.
Other signs you may be finding it hard to accept the inevitable, include still hosting BBQs (with blankets and heaters), insisting on still wearing shorts (but pairing them with a jumper), and hanging on to your summer playlist (23 percent).
One in five (20 percent) are clinging on to their iced coffee, while everyone else has switched to a warming drink, while 19 percent are hell bent on enjoying ice cream in the park, even if they’re shivering while eating it.
A further 19 percent are resisting packing away the garden furniture, while the same percentage are EVEN refusing to wear a coat yet.
Overall, 76 percent of those surveyed say the thought of summer ending makes them feel gloomy.
And the survey from Sanpellegrino found 68 percent will still take day trips to the beach in October, while four in ten (40 percent) will continue to embrace the spirit of summer and eat their meals alfresco, even if they have to put on a jumper, coat or blanket (48 percent).
While many try to deny it, sadly October is considered the ‘end of summer’ and a cultural low point for some, with 83 percent saying that they spend the whole of winter wishing it was summer.
One in five (18 percent) are so reluctant to wear their winter wardrobe that they won’t be getting it out until the end of October, while 69 percent won’t put the heating on until October is done.

Popstar and presenter Mollie King comments, “I absolutely love Summer, but who says the good vibes have to stop when the leaves start to turn? For me, it’s all about finding those little moments of joy every day, no matter the season.”
A Sanpellegrino spokesperson added, “We believe life should be savored the Italian way, with joy found in everyday moments, whether it’s lingering over lunch with friends or raising a glass just because. We’re on a mission to bring a burst of Italy to Brits.
Three quarters (73 percent) say that summer is their favourite season as they get to spend more time outside (65 percent), everyone is happier (62 percent), the days are longer (54 percent) and there is generally a happier vibe (46 percent).
Four in ten (46 percent) love the fact that people are more social, while 45 percent say you can’t beat wearing summer clothes.
